Overview

Jozani forest is also known as jozani chwaka bay national park , it is the only National park found in Zanzibar island, it is very small (only 50 ) kilometers sguare, but it is beautiful place to visit, therefore this is the one of must- see tour when you are in Zanzibar.

The Jozani forest lies about 35-38km south east of Zanzibar township in Zanzibar’s south region. It is narrow neck of the land between the Chwaka Bay in the north and Uzi Bay to the south. It contains about 100 tree species from total of 43 families.

This tour for all jungle lovers during a walk through the park you will see endemic species of monkeys like red colubus ,which can be only found in Zanzibar jozani forest , you will also Walk through mangrove forest it takes only three hours and you can see the natural beauty of Zanzibar. The Inclussion of Chwaka Bay magrove forests which has been recognized since 1946 and managed by 8 villages of Chwaka, Pongwe, Uroa, Marumbi, Mapopwe, Charawe, Ukongoroni and Michamvi made management of the new Conservation area a unique participatory model.

  • You will have the chance to walk across to the Pete-Jozani Mangrove Boardwalk, which entwines through coral thicket vegetation, mangrove forest and across a creek.
  •  You walk through mangrove forest which is extremely crucial to Zanzibar’s ecosystems, providing a habitat for many lizards, snakes and birdlife as well as preventing the coastal erosion.

Our Driver will pick you up from hotel at around 8 am after breakfast and drive back to Jozani forest. Spending enough time wandering through the forest and discover it’s hidden secrets under the local tour guide who will give you all informations about Jozani Forest.This tour takes about 2 to 3 hours.

It’s officially known as Chwaka Bay National Park located on the East Coast of Unguja Island, largest Island of Zanzibar,Jozani Forest is a rich diversity of native wildlife, including swamp forest, evergreen thicket and mangrove,Red Colobus Monkeys are endemic to Unguja Island. These Monkeys are very playful and you can easily get close to them, the Monkeys can be seen frolicking amongst the exotic indigenous Flora and fauna.
